The SP, initially expected to secure three seats, managed to secure victory in two seats. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed his concerns about those trying to take advantage of the situation. He also alleged that the ruling BJP would resort to any means to win elections and vowed to take action against such MLAs.
In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan defeated Congress’s Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the Rajya Sabha elections. Both candidates received 34 votes each, but Mahajan emerged as the winner in the tie-breaker round. Prior to this, the current CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu accused opposition leaders of obstructing the work of counting officials and claimed that a group of 5-6 Congress MLAs were taken away in a convoy of the CRPF and Haryana Police.
