                                                                    Live coverage of the Rajya Sabha Elections 2024 in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh witnessed significant developments. In Uttar Pradesh, despite cross-voting by Samajwadi Party legislators and the resignation of their chief whip Manoj Kumar Pandey, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious by winning eight out of ten seats. The SP, initially expected to secure three seats, managed to secure victory in two seats. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed his concerns about those trying to take advantage of the situation. He also alleged that the ruling BJP would resort to any means to win elections and vowed to take action against such MLAs.

                                                           In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan defeated Congress’s Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the Rajya Sabha elections. Both candidates received 34 votes each, but Mahajan emerged as the winner in the tie-breaker round. Prior to this, the current CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu accused opposition leaders of obstructing the work of counting officials and claimed that a group of 5-6 Congress MLAs were taken away in a convoy of the CRPF and Haryana Police.

                                                             Moving on to Karnataka, three Congress candidates, along with one from the BJP, secured victories in the Rajya Sabha elections. There were five candidates competing for the four Rajya Sabha seats from the state. All three Congress candidates, namely former Union Minister Ajay Maken, and current Rajya Sabha MPs Syed Nasir Hussain and G C Chandrashekar, emerged victorious. The BJP candidate and former MLC Narayansa Bhadage also won, while the JD(S) nominee Kupendra Reddy lost. The BJP-JDS alliance faced a setback as at least one BJP MLA voted for the Congress.
